DriftLight - 2.5D Platformer for iOS and Windows made with UE4

DriftLight is an ambitious 2.5D fantasy platformer game I worked on while I was completing my masters degree @ FIEA, UCF. The game was developed in Unreal Engine 4 and centered around the mechanic of manipulating the player's gravity to interact with objects in the surrounding and progress.

I worked on this project with a group of other talented collegues and took guidance from my Programming lead, Mr. Thomas Malone to implement desired features. In initial days, i worked on custom character and camera implementation but in later phase I was assigned task to port game from PC version to iOS. I also worked on Nativization of Unreal Blueprints to native code as well as optimization so game could run smooth on wide variety of devices. We have a dedicated website for this project where more information about whole project development as well as team members can be found Here.

Porting game from PC to iOS was quite challenging as it involved compressing art assets, creating natural controls, nativization of blueprints and testing variety of builds based on different graphical settings to make sure that we can keep maximum features parity across platforms. I am quite satisfied with final result as we were able to improve performance of game from almost 12 fps to smooth and stable 60fps on iPhones running iOS10 and higher. In the final semester, I ported game from Unreal 4.19 to latest 4.23 engine to make sure people working on this project in the future can provide Long term support ( LTS ) with minimum efforts.
